## Questions and answers from the visible page

### What percentage goes into EPF each month?

Employees contribute 12% of Basic+DA, and the employer matches with 12%, of which 8.33% (capped) usually goes to the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) and the rest to EPF.

### Is EPF interest taxable?

Interest on employee contributions above ₹2.5 lakh per year (₹5 lakh if there's no employer contribution) is taxable — otherwise EPF enjoys EEE (Exempt-Exempt-Exempt) tax status.

### Can I withdraw EPF before retirement?

Partial withdrawals are allowed for specific purposes (medical emergencies, home purchase, education, marriage) subject to service-period conditions; full withdrawal is allowed after 2 months of unemployment.
