### What is the difference between OPS and NPS?

OPS is a defined-benefit scheme paying a fixed proportion of last drawn salary, funded by the employer. NPS is defined-contribution and market-linked — the payout depends on your corpus and the annuity you buy.

### What is UPS?

The Unified Pension Scheme, available to eligible central government employees from April 2025, offering an assured payout as an alternative to NPS.

### Is pension income taxable?

Yes. Pension is taxed as salary income. Commuted pension may be partly exempt depending on the scheme.
