## Questions and answers from the visible page

### How is in-hand salary calculated from CTC?

The calculator starts with CTC, estimates the gross salary after employer PF and gratuity, then subtracts employee PF, professional tax and the TDS amount you enter. It presents annual and monthly figures separately.

### What is a typical Basic salary percentage?

Most Indian companies structure Basic at 40–50% of CTC, since a higher Basic increases statutory PF and gratuity contributions (which reduce take-home pay) but also increases retirement savings.

### Can I include my expected TDS?

Yes. Estimate your annual tax using the Income Tax Calculator, then enter the annual TDS here to include it in the take-home estimate. The calculation remains an estimate; payroll policies and state professional tax rules vary.

### Is employer PF part of my take-home pay?

No. Employer PF is part of your CTC but is deposited directly into your EPF account — it is not paid to you as salary and is excluded from take-home pay, though it does build your retirement corpus.

### What advanced settings are available?

You can set Basic and HRA percentages, choose whether PF is limited to the statutory wage ceiling, and add professional tax, annual TDS and bonus. The tool checks that the component amounts and deductions remain internally consistent.
